Portland, OR (PRWEB) April 25, 2012
Neil Kelly Company, the largest design-build remodeling company in the Northwest, completed 211 residential energy retrofits in 2011, preventing an average of 2.8 tons of carbon per home from entering the environment each year.
Neil Kelly’s Home Performance division, established in 2006, is part of the company’s strategy to provide whole-home services and energy-wise choices. A foundation of sustainability underlies all of the company’s divisions, including its flagship design-build remodeling group and related services such as its HomeForce home repair and improvement team.
The Home Performance team works closely with Energy Trust of Oregon and Clean Energy Works Oregon(CEWO), to offer homeowners access to energy audits as well as financial incentives for a variety of energy upgrades. CEWO has already opened operations in Portland and Bend, and will soon provide services in other cities in Oregon. Home Performance also works with Community Power Works in Seattle as a key contractor.
“Our customers increasingly recognize the value of energy efficiency upgrades in achieving comfort and savings,” said Chad Ruhoff, manager, Neil Kelly Home Performance. “We help them to determine which improvements will give them the most comfort for their dollar, and provide typical Neil Kelly quality on all of our upgrade work. We believe we are one of the largest carbon saving businesses – if not the largest -- in Oregon.”
“Neil Kelly Home Performance division’s 2011 success is a strong example of how energy contractors are helping residential customers identify energy saving improvements in their homes,” said Marshall Johnson, Energy Trust of Oregon. “As a leading home performance contractor in Oregon, Neil Kelly is a significant contributor to carbon reductions through home energy efficiency.”
While every home is different, Neil Kelly Home Performance technicians will focus on the measures that offer the greatest return, including air sealing, insulating, sealing ductwork, improving heating and cooling systems, and upgrading lighting and appliances.
The company calculated carbon savings statistics based on energy modeling. The carbon savings of 2.8 tons per year per home (590 total tons per year) means that in five years, just this group of retrofitted homes will have prevented 15,000 tons of carbon from entering our environment – the equivalent of 1.5 million gallons of consumed gasoline.
