We previously refurbished their Physics and Chemistry Laboratory, and they were so pleased with the results that we were asked to put forward plans to renovate their Food Technology Suite.

The Islamia Girls School in London, will open its newly refurbished food technology suite this month after an extensive renovation programme. The school is delighted with its newly refurbished suite which has undergone a complete renovation from floor to ceiling.
Many of the unique design choices such as the crescent shaped worktops came from consultation with the students and teachers, during the initial design consultation process.
The refurbishment was completed by Cheshire based firm Klick Technology.
Referring to the design concept, Clare Whitehurst Marketing Director for Klick explained “The project was a challenging one. As well as removing the old furniture and equipment we also needed to remodel the floor space and remove walls before we could implement the design. This was an exciting opportunity for us to put in place a new food technology lab that reflects both the needs of a modern school and also the personality of the teachers and students that will use it.”
Whitehurst goes on to say, “This is not the first project we have undertaken for the school. We previously refurbished their Physics and Chemistry Laboratory, and they were so pleased with the results that we were asked to put forward plans to renovate their Food Technology Suite.”
Sdaqat Jabeen – Headteacher of Islamia Girls School stated “Following the successful completion of 2 Science labs we asked Klick to come up with some layout ideas for a new Food Technology room. We were looking for something different from the conventional room layout and the results are impressive. Having an unusually shaped room meant we needed to ensure the maximum usage of the room, so we had to be very creative about how we utilised this space. Klick worked closely with myself, and as I wanted something out of the ordinary we discussed many design options. As the curved shape worked so well in the labs, I wanted something similar in the Food Technology room, and started to doodle some ideas and eventually came up with this new design which represented two kitchen gloves and the central round island symbolised a cupcake. Klick were able to take my sketches and come up with a workable design and, as you can see, the results are equally as impressive, and we have definitely managed to keep the “wow” factor.”
