Attorney Deborah Truhowsky to Speak at 24th Annual Elder Law Institute Event

Attorney Deborah Truhowsky will conduct a presentation on April 27th, 2012 for the 24th Annual Elder Law Institute event sponsored by the Practising Law Institute. The presentation, titled "Rights of Nursing Home Residents - What Every Family Should Know" and "ABCs of Nursing Home Tort Litigation" will be co-presented along with attorney Steve B. Cottler.

Attorney Deborah Truhowsky, Senior Counsel for the Law Firm of D. F. Truhowsky, will conduct an educational presentation on April 27th, 2012 for the 24th Annual Elder Law Institute event sponsored by the Practising Law Institute, a non-profit continuing legal education organization located in New York City. The presentation, titled "Rights of Nursing Home Residents - What Every Family Should Know" and "ABCs of Nursing Home Tort Litigation" will be co-presented along with attorney Steve B. Cottler.

Key points of the presentation will include:

  •     Caselaw update on recent lawsuits
  •     Gathering evidence for your case
  •     Successful suits: what are the elements?

"This educational presentation is intended for attorneys representing family members of the elderly who are concerned about protecting the rights of the elderly living in nursing homes or similar facilities," explained Ms. Truhowsky. "When elder neglect or abuse is suspected, it is important to quickly take steps to protect the resident, and to gather the facts and review the records to advise the family what legal remedies can be pursued. This has to be accomplished carefully in accordance with state laws and previous successful case histories", she continued.
The 24th Annual Elder Law Institute event will be a day-long presentation on April 27th, 2012 at PLI New York Center, 810 Seventh Avenue at 53rd Street (21st floor), New York, New York 10019. It will also be available as a webcast. Ms. Truhowsky's segment of the presentation will occur at 2:45 P.M. and continue until 3:45 P.M.
