Recently named Artist of the Year by Teenage-Rockstar.net, Michael Magers was chosen to perform five songs to a crowd of swooning young girls Saturday at a Whole Foods Market Earth Day Celebration in Irvine, CA. Michael Magers’ show demonstrated that he is not the average 12-year-old boy raising awareness about global warming. He is now competing in an international contest at Global-Rockstar.net, which is sponsored in part by the United Nations.

With two original songs currently in the top 10, Michael is on the verge of becoming an international hit. Votes are being tallied until May 19, 2012. The winner will be flown to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on June 20-22, 2012, to perform at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio+ 20 Earth Summit.

Attendees at the Earth Day Celebration Saturday were encouraged to join a Five Days of Michael campaign to vote for his performance on the Global-Rockstar.net site by clicking on the heart below his video every day for the next five days, in accordance with the contest’s rules.

Michael’s song for this contest is called "Everybody Listening", and has already been chosen by the Rio +20 Global Youth Music administrators as one of the songs for their Rio +20 Global Music CD Compilation this year. The CD will be given out at the conference and will go on sale following the event.

Michael has posted over 20 videos on YouTube since, February 2011. He currently has over 36,000 subscribers, 150,000 friends/contacts and more than 430,000 channel views. Michael is well traveled having been to 21 countries and recently toured the UK with the People to People Student Ambassador program. He is a strong believer in making the world a better place to live and making friends worldwide.
