Merger to bring new products, international distribution to MR. BEER customers

“With homebrewing exploding in popularity across the world, we wanted to find the best way to continue to evolve and grow our product line,” said MR. BEER Managing Director, Mike Bernstein

Today, the two largest players in homebrewing have announced they are joining forces. MR. BEER, the largest supplier of make-your-own beer kits in the United States, has been acquired by Coopers Brewery of Adelaide, Australia. Coopers is the largest Australian-owned brewery as well as the world's largest producer of home brew beer. The merger not only increases MR. BEER's presence in the United States, but across the globe.

The merger of Tucson-based MR. BEER, founded in 1993, and Coopers Brewery was a simple decision. “With homebrewing exploding in popularity across the world, we wanted to find the best way to continue to evolve and grow our product line,” said MR. BEER Managing Director, Mike Bernstein. “As we explored the homebrewing category, Coopers stood out. They are not only world-renown for quality and innovative ingredients, but also for their tremendous customer service. Coopers dedication, creativity and technology will allow MR. BEER to deliver our customers the best there is in homebrewing equipment and ingredients."

Coopers Brewery has been owned and operated by the Cooper family since 1862. This tradition of excellence and loyalty was one of the deciding factors that attracted MR. BEER to Coopers. "Our MR. BEER community and fan base are extremely important to us. We have taken many steps to ensure we are always accessible to our customers, respect our vendors and honor our staff and believe that the core values of MR. BEER lined up perfectly with Coopers. We truly feel we will be able to take our product to the next level," said Bernstein.

"The new relationship will also allow MR. BEER to step up international distribution. Coopers supplies their products throughout the world and having access to their knowledge and experience of international markets will assist MR.BEER in growing their exports,” said Scott Harris, Manager, Brewing Products, Coopers Brewery.

Coopers will make and provide MR. BEER with quality malt extracts, while all other MR. BEER products will continue to be made in North America. Coopers makes their malts from only the finest ingredients (barley, malt and hops) in their state-of-the-art facility in Adelaide, Australia.

MR. BEER will continue to operate under the MR. BEER brand name but also distribute the larger kits that Coopers Brewery markets as “DIY Beer Kit” in North America. The Tucson, Arizona based staff will continue to grow and drive Coopers into new North American distribution channels.

MR. BEER currently offers beer kits, hard cider kits, root beer kits as well as refills, recipes, ingredients and accessories. Beer kits are available in many delicious styles, including Lager, IPA, Irish Stout and seasonal varieties.
