Since 2008, Baby Planner, Inc. CEO April Beach has spearheaded consulting for the maternity concierge and hospital baby planning industries; but something was missing and April knew it was a problem. April became increasingly concerned about the lack of factual information being delivered to new and expecting families regarding toxins and chemicals and their effect on the developing fetus and growing children. “I began to notice my own children’s health suffering from what appeared to be toxic exposures and I knew if I was missing something, so were our clients!”
Beach realized that not only was there a huge lack of information on environmental hazards, but businesses tend to fear “green concepts” in relation to how it may affect their overall company brand. Such assumptions may be straying some companies away from providing essential consulting on toxins to their clients. “Delivering critical-safety information to parents is the responsibility of businesses that support new families; this can no longer be seen as a “special interest” issue. Environmental toxins are an imminent threat to pregnant mothers and children, and easy to understand factual information must be provided to businesses in order to help them”.
With this awareness, Baby Planner, Inc. went on a hunt for the best advisor to serve their businesses clients. After months searching, Baby Planner, Inc. was pleased to find Organic Baby University’s and principal green-mom founder and CEO, Jennifer Hankey.
Among the qualities that Hankey’s Organic Baby University possessed were a respected online parent-training center, an extensive database of resources, and most importantly the ability to organize it all in easy to understand and easier to follow step-by-step processes. “Hankey not only had much of the information our hospitals and baby planners we're missing, she documented it in practical and understandable form for companies to pass directly on to the consumer”, stated Brooke Powell of Baby Planner, Inc. regarding her concern over the lack of usable information for the company’s business clients.
Hankey’s personal discovery that of nearly 80,000 chemicals in the market place only 200 had ever been tested for safety by anyone; launched Hankey’s personal mission to learn more. At the time Hankey was expecting her first baby and had been diagnosed with an extremely rare chromosome disorder. As Hankey began to research, she learned that the environment could negatively affect the health of her baby. Hankey recalls, “I had no idea that chemicals I had in my everyday products had been linked to birth defects, asthma, ADD, cancer, and even potentially autism in real legitimate scientific studies! I had always assumed if it was allowed in products that it must be safe- that the government was regulating these chemicals.” Upon Hankey’s alarming discovery, Organic Baby University was formed.
Hankey founded Organic Baby University on the principals that all mothers should have the right to know what they are exposing their children to, with further right to choose to stop the exposure.
Baby Planner, Inc.'s new Toxins Business Consulting Program will walk medical providers, baby planners, doulas, and birth professionals down an easy path to explain chemical exposures and potential health concerns to their clients and patients. Baby Planner, Inc. is particularly thrilled to bring Hankey on board in consulting medical providers and hospitals within their Baby Savvy® program. Hankey’s expertise is an asset to the maternity industry and new parents alike.
