Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) April 25, 2012
Westridge School for Girls and Pasadena-based solar installer Run on Sun announced today the successful completion of a 52.3kW solar power project installed on the school’s Fran Norris Scoble Performing Arts Center (PAC). “This was a great project for us,” explained Run on Sun’s Founder and CEO, Jim Jenal. “It is not every day that you get to work with a client who is as dedicated to sustainability as is Westridge. This system will provide a significant reduction in the school’s energy bills while simultaneously allowing the students to develop first-hand knowledge about renewable energy.”
“The mission driven work-ethic of Jim Jenal and the Run on Sun team has moved Westridge another step forward in our commitment to environmental consciousness,” said Westridge Head of School Elizabeth J. McGregor. “The thoughtfulness in their design of the system and efficiency in planning and installation will undoubtedly contribute to the many ways that Westridge’s sustainability practices are becoming part of the curriculum. This new solar installation will be yet another way that our students actively engage in experiential learning. Their ability to monitor energy generation will allow them to appreciate and analyze, first-hand, how resources can be utilized, conserved, and re-purposed in ways that promote environmentally friendly practices. This is education for life!”
The PAC solar system will generate enough power to supply the equivalent of 10 homes and was purchased with the assistance of a rebate from Pasadena Water and Power that will be paid out over the next five years.
