Increased business activity is top of mind for Sunbelt Midwest business brokers. Optimism and signs of a busy second quarter seems to be the consensus among peer to peer advisers.

Strong expectations of business sales are top of mind for Ed Krajcir, President of the Milwaukee office of Sunbelt Midwest. Ed, a business broker is very involved with local area business groups such as The Brookfield Chamber of Commerce and the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce. Optimism at local group meetings was the first signs predicting a busy year in 2012. The consensus from Sunbelt's peer to peer advisers and business professionals seem to point to heightened activity all across the Milwaukee Metro marketplace.

According to the Business Outlook Survey for Q1 conducted by the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC), 76% percent of businesses surveyed see sales increasing in the second quarter, 63% percent see profit gains and over half expect job gains. Only 5% reported seeing a decline in sales and 19% expect to stay the same. In the Manufacturing sector 82% percent surveyed expect improved real sales levels. Overall the report showed the highest level of expected profits posted since the third quarter of 2006.

This month the Milwaukee office of Sunbelt Midwest saw an increase over last April of 200% on inquiries for available businesses. “Several factors could be contributing to this increase in activity,” said Ed Krajcir, “Available businesses in the Manufacturing and Distribution industries have yielded the most interest but overall business as a whole has been gaining momentum since the beginning of the year. The MMAC’s report is in line with our predictions for a busy 2012. From the increase of inquiries on available businesses for sale to consideration of the aging baby boomer business owners looking to retire, we are seeing businesses starting to sell at accelerated speeds. Since the beginning of the year we set a record of selling a business in seventeen days. Generally a business will take 6 to 9 months to sell a business but this year we’ve seen businesses sell in 25, 60 and 90 days, the momentum is incredible. We are looking forward to a very busy year.”
