(PRWEB) April 27, 2012
The media spotlight is often a double-edged sword. No one knows this better than Frank Sweat Jr. and plaintiffs who filed Poligrip Lawsuits. And yet, gossip and rumor-mongering aside, the real story here is being overlooked according to Sean Burke of AttorneyOne.
The National Prosthodontics Awareness Week is on April 22nd-28th, as announced by the American College of Prosthodontists. During this week the public will be informed about proper oral health including oral cancer detection and consumers will be provided with details on how to best care for missing teeth.
In the April 1st, 2011 issue of General Dentistry, a study conducted by the University of Maryland was published revealing that excessive use of zinc-based denture adhesive cream may cause neurological damage and other problems from zinc poisoning. On July 28th, 2011, an Oklahoma man, Frank Sweat Jr., filed a lawsuit in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas (case no. 110703005) against GlaxoSmithKline, the maker of denture cream Super Poligrip (and its similar sister Poligrip). According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff used SuperPoligrip from about 2000 to 2009. He alleges that his use of the product caused him suffering neuropathy, zinc toxicity, myelopathy, kidney failure, liver failure, other neurological disorders, pain and suffering.
