Lake Forest, IL (PRWEB) April 30, 2012
Forest Financial Group, an employee benefits consulting firm, recently announced the development of a workplace and campus violence prevention and intervention program. This program will be offered through its newest division, Forest Advisors. The prevention program includes needs assessments, policy development and implementation, threat management team training, incident and threat response, emergency protocols and investigations. These core services will also incorporate domestic violence awareness, an element missing in many corporate policies.
A significant percentage of workplace violence incidents arise from domestic and intimate partner violence. “Domestic violence does not stay home when its victims go to work. It can follow them, resulting in violence in the workplace. With one out of every four American women reporting physical abuse by an intimate partner, it seems certain that most any company has employees struggling with domestic violence,” stated Nicholas Gialamas, Forest Financial Group’s founder and CEO. “Workplace and campus violence has become all too relevant and organizations must not only respond to keep its employees safe but more importantly have the training and program in place to help prevent violence. It’s time we all step up and do something about it.”
“My former role in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office creating and supervising the first domestic violence division has provided me a unique view into some of the major risks in workplace violence,” stated Pam Paziotopoulos, Forest Advisor’s senior vice president and lead consultant. Ms. Paziotopoulos has extensive expertise in domestic violence, workplace violence, and was a contributor to numerous publications, such as the new SHRM/ASIS Workplace Violence Standards. John Savas, Forest Advisor’s senior vice president and practice leader, will head up this new division, bringing with him more than 20 years of HR experience in corporate and consulting roles. “Organizations are increasingly being held responsible for the safety and security of its employees. Putting in an effective workplace violence prevention program makes sound business sense and it’s the right thing to do,” stated Savas.
Forest Advisors is now working with clients of all sizes to implement the new standards recommended by The Society for Human Resource Management. In addition, Forest Advisors is assisting colleges and universities, which are all required by Title IX and the Cleary Act to not only provide safe environments but to also investigate and report all campus incidents.
