This May is once again accompanied by “Mayweather” as the clouds of anticipation roll in for the years biggest fight Floyd “Money” Mayweather vs Cotto. The fight the fans want to see, versus Manny Pacquiao, will most likely not take place in 2012 as Pacquiao squares off against Palm Spring’s Timothy Bradley June 9th. As in the past, Top Rank has chosen Pacquiao’s oppenent caustiously instead of risking a potential loss to the pound for pound champ, Mayweather.
Floyd Mayweather, love him or hate him has captured our attention once again. This time perhaps at the request of the Las Vegas judge who has claimed the city needs his fight for the good of the economy. Delaying his 90 jail sentence to June 1st.
The 35 year old Mayweather is focused on his most dangerous opponent, Miguel Cotto. At 154 pounds Cotto is a much bigger adversary. The only other 154 pound fighter Mayweather has faced was Oscar De La Hoya, who some would argue was his most challenging fight.
HBO’s 24/7 has been chronicling the lives of both fighters leading up to the mega event at the MGM. Mayweather has repeatedly been criticiczed for his foul mouth, childish antics on the show. If there is one thin“Money”Mayweather knows how to do, it is sell tickets.
Leonard Ellerbe, the business manager of the trash talking Mayweather says his fighter is a “rock star and “ one of the most talented atheltes in the world”.
