Big4.com, the premier social networking forum for professionals and alumni of Accenture, Andersen, BearingPoint, Capgemini, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers, PwC has reported on the big winners at the Deloitte Foundation’s 17th annual National Student Case Study Seminar. A team from Florida A&M University successfully solved and presented a real world business case study and competed against five other national finalist schools recently.
The school will get $10,000 to help support its accounting program and each member of the team will get a $2,000 scholarship. The student team from Brigham Young University came in second and each member will receive a $1,000 scholarship and the school’s accounting department will get $5,000. The University of Notre Dame, University of Texas at Austin, University of Washington and Miami University of Ohio also competed. Each of these schools got $500 scholarship individually and $2,500 per institution.
The National Student Case Study Seminar is sponsored by the Deloitte Foundation through contributions from retired partners, principals and directors of Deloitte LLP and its subsidiaries. A dedicated faculty advisor and a Deloitte manager work with each student team. Together they identify, define and solve world accounting case studies that present challenges.
Shaun Budnik, president of the Deloitte Foundation comments:
“The National Student Case Study Seminar is one of the many ways we support the enrichment of the accounting talent pipeline,” he said. “In addition to helping students build the technical and analytical skills required in our profession, it also allows them to hone their presentation and public speaking abilities. All of the teams should be very proud of their work.”
