Dominion Enterprises CIO Joe Fuller has been selected to participate as a judge in Start Norfolk, an April 27-29 event designed to recognize and support local entrepreneurs as they launch new businesses. The weekend event brings together individuals with diverse interests and backgrounds, who form teams and quickly build a viable business startup. Fuller will sit on a panel of four judges drawing from a wide range of expertise, including consulting services to start-up businesses, business leadership, and advising state government on technology matters. Over 25 speakers and mentors will participate in Start Norfolk, including business luminaries from outside the region and successful local entrepreneurs, advisors, and venture capital firms.
“I’ve seen firsthand how Norfolk and surrounding cities have been important incubators for business,” said Fuller, “from my background as a small-business owner, to my experience launching large, successful products and services here at Dominion Enterprises. A decade ago, we were among the few companies establishing profitable online businesses like ForRent.com and TraderOnline.com, here in Hampton Roads. I appreciate any opportunity to contribute to the growth of technology startups here, and to help local entrepreneurs who can become the future business engine for this region.”
Start Norfolk is presented by We Are Titans, a Norfolk-based organization that helps startups and established businesses worldwide build custom web and mobile applications.
“Having Joe Fuller at the event, representing a local business like Dominion Enterprises, makes Start Norfolk more relevant for entrepreneurs in the area,” said We Are Titans Project Director Zack Miller. “He already listens to technology business pitches and vets product development ideas from inside and outside Dominion Enterprises, so he’s a perfect sounding board for our Start Norfolk teams.”
Registration for Start Norfolk is open online, and will be available on-site as the event begins, at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 27. Final presentations and judging will take place between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 29. The event will be held at the Ted Constant Convocation Center, at Old Dominion University, in Norfolk. Visit http://www.startnorfolk.com for more detail on the event.
