A paradise should be positive, ideal, harmonious and… full of turtles? That’s right, as spring is key timing for nature to awaken after a cool winter; it’s also a turtle’s time to enjoy their backyard pond paradise. On May 5 and 6 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Petco™ stores across the country will offer tips for keeping turtles happy and healthy in their perfect pond utopia. The event will offer insight into the lives of the social critters and how to maintain an impeccable pond for them this spring.
“Meet the Critters” is a free monthly educational event that allows guests of all ages to enjoy hands-on activities while learning about a variety of unique and interesting facts about turtles and pond solutions, such as:
- Aquatic Turtles are very social and will often come the surface to offer a warm greeting. However, this is also known as a feeding response so these critters might be expecting food!
- Turtles love to climb out of the water to bask in the spring sunshine – no sunscreen necessary!
- Aquatic Turtles can live more than 25 years in captivity and can grow over up to 11 inches! This also means it is very important to understand their needs and the pet parent commitment that comes with owning aquatic turtles.
Associates will be on hand to answer questions and offer insight into starting and maintaining a backyard pond. For more information on aquatic turtles, paradise pond solutions and “Meet the Critters” events, please contact a local Petco store or visit http://www.petco.com/storelocator.
