Book buyers looking for that hot new cookbook may only be disappointed for a moment when perusing Bobby Nimocks’ new book “Filets: A literary treat for gourmet appetites” (published by AuthorHouse); for while the book does not deliver recipes, it does deliver one “literary treat” after another.

In “Filets” Nimocks presents a collection of contemporary verse (49 poems in all), along with his short story, Wait Until Spring.

Nimocks’ wit and signature humor is on full display in “Filets”. The collection is divided into three parts: poetic with précis, poetic without précis and Wait Until Spring, a “long, short story” that follows a newlywed couple’s first experience with the pill.

Through his poetry Nimocks explores a variety of subjects, from parenthood to sexuality. In his poem “Animal Rites”, Nimocks illustrates how brevity can often draw an appreciative smile from the most serious of readers.

Warning!
This preserve
Is the exclusive and legal possession
Of lions whose claim to land
Was Duly staked out
By the passing of water
To secure a border
Around the plot in question.

This deed will read
And cite a legal fact
And reference thereto
A property properly and officially zoned
As an urinary tract.
