In June of 1997, a group of community activists realized a dream with the incorporation of the City of Sunny Isles Beach. Fifteen years later, residents can celebrate this “World Class City” with a week of events for the community. The festivities begin on Sunday, June 10th, with a kick-off event, the International Olympics, at Pelican Community Park, from 2pm – 6pm. Guests can create teams of 4 to 6 players to compete in fun, family-style field games, including bean bag toss, bocce, and much more.

This event will also be the kick-off for the World Class City Scavenger Hunt, where teams will receive the first clue to send them on a week-long hunt throughout the city. Teams will explore City facilities, parks, landmarks, hotels and more, in order to find 15 answers commemorating our 15 years. Winners will be announced at the City’s annual main event, on Sunday, June 17th.

On Saturday, June 16th, guests can join the celebration at Heritage Park (19200 Collins Avenue) for a “Taste of Sunny Isles Beach” where local restaurants will be selling a variety of cultural dishes to satisfy everyone’s palate. The event will also include live musical entertainment, and will be an opportunity for everyone to celebrate the multicultural community known as Florida’s Riviera.

The main event is scheduled for Sunday, June 17th, at Samson Oceanfront Park, from noon to 4:00pm. Residents holding a Resident ID Card will enjoy food, rides, games, and live musical entertainment, including featured performer, renowned jazz artist, Nicole Henry.
