Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 30, 2012
Washington, DC-based independent producer Backstory Productions has won a 2012 Telly Award for its training video, "Bringing Sexual Assault Offenders to Justice."
The video, produced on behalf of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the US Department of Justice, teaches first responders and detectives best practices in the investigation of alleged sexual assaults.
While according to research 1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men are victims of completed or attempted rape, law enforcement officers often dismiss their complaints due to stereoptyped views of victims.
The video tackles those stereotypes head on and recommends investigative techniques that focus on the perpetrators of the crime, who typically are serial rapists known to the victims.
The Telly is the premier award honoring the finest film and video productions, groundbreaking Web commercials, videos and films, and outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs.
