A 73 year old woman was transported by ambulance to the ER at Eisenhower Medical Center; upon her admission she had a systolic blood pressure of less than 40 systolic. It was determined that she had a spleen injury and an abdomen full of blood. The patient was give 2 units of blood, and was resuscitated following traditional protocol. 2 Hemaclear tourniquets were then applied bilaterally to the patient’s legs; this allowed the team to stabilize the patient and get her to the OR. The patient survived and five days later was discharged from the hospital.

About Dr. David H. Tang, M.D., FACEP

Dr. David H. Tang is a residency trained and board certified in emergency medicine and has been in full time practice for more than 30 years. Dr. Tang is an emergency physician at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California. He also serves as the Forensic Director of the Barbara Sinatra Childrens Center in Rancho Mirage.
