House Builder in Sutton Coldfield Announces Recession Causing a New Trend in House Extensions to Accommodate Extended Family

Chaplin Homes, the Sutton Coldfield based house builders have identified a new trend resulting from the continued downturn in the UK economy and depressed housing market.

As the slowdown in the UK economy continues, there seems to be a resulting trend in home owners extending their properties or converting lofts and garages into extra living space to accommodate other family members.

Chaplin Homes have been established for over fifty years, so have experienced the boom and bust times in the housing market over a few decades. As NHBC approved builders they provide the whole range of building services in the Sutton Coldfield area, from new build homes to house extensions and property refurbishment.

David Higgs from Chaplin Homes reports: “We have seen a rise in home owners having extensions built on to their houses, or are converting lofts and garages to make extra living space. The most surprising trend though seems to be that family members moving into this extra space are often in their thirties, an age when people traditionally, are usually purchasing their own homes to get a foothold on the housing ladder.”

While the housing market continues to be relatively quiet during these times of austerity Britain, it seems that people are less likely to move house, choosing to either extend or convert their existing home, or even commission a builder to build a new house for them.

Chaplin Homes have weathered many economic storms over the years in the housing market. For further information about new builds, loft conversions or garage conversions visit
