Why do you pay for new equipment, extra phone lines, and expensive services when you already have a perfectly good security system and an internet connection? ...just do the monitoring yourself.

Although many homes have security systems installed, many homeowners opt to leave these systems unmonitored due to the high cost of monthly service fees and the high probability of false alarms. Likewise, some vehicle alarm systems offer remote monitoring options, but the equipment costs and monthly service fees are typically too high for the average car owner. To combat these issues, PhantomLink announces the launch of a do-it-yourself alarm monitoring solution that allows customers to monitor their home and/or vehicle security systems via web, email, and text messages. All that is required is an existing alarm system and a wireless internet connection (Wi-Fi/802.11).

PhantomLink uses a small, easy-to-install device that links the customer’s security system to the customer’s wireless internet connection. The PhantomLink device regularly publishes status updates to the PhantomLink servers. If it senses an alarm event, or if the internet connection is severed, the servers immediately alert the customer via email and/or text messages. The customer can then log into the PhantomLink.com alarm monitoring “dashboard” to review timelines and graphs of the alarm event. The customer can also optionally add webcam video to their dashboard to see real-time video of their home or driveway. The dashboard can also combine data from multiple devices, allowing customers to see the status of their home and vehicle(s) on one page.

PhantomLink is designed primarily for customers with existing security systems, although it also works for vehicles without a security system. Since PhantomLink continually monitors the quality of its internet connection, it can alert customers when their vehicle may be driving away from their home and out of range of the wireless internet connection.

“PhantomLink has the potential to completely change the alarm monitoring industry.” says Adam Peters, the company’s founder. “Why do you pay for new equipment, extra phone lines, and expensive services when you already have a perfectly good security system and an internet connection? All it takes is a bit of glue to tie the systems together and you just do the monitoring yourself. PhantomLink is that glue. Then you get the piece-of-mind and information you need, but at a tenth of the price.”
