Millions of adults and children snore and a large percentage of those who snore have sleep apnea – a medical condition in which breathing can stop hundreds of times throughout the night. Sleep apnea is related to heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, ED and excessive daytime sleepiness – a causative factor for vehicular and workplace accidents.
Most sleep apneics snore and abrupt cessation of snoring during sleep is the sign most easily recognized by the suffering bed partner. Millions of people still view snoring as simply an annoyance and build “snoring rooms” to muffle the sounds or rely on over-the-counter devices, sprays, ear plugs and myriad other ineffective solutions to control the noise.

The “Stop the Snoring, Save the World” campaign will consist of a good-humored approach designed to attract public attention to medical condition of snoring and the medically approved options for treatment of both snoring and sleep apnea. Marketing materials for direct mail campaigns, business cards, branded products and social media will be available to all members of Snoring Isn’t Sexy and others in the sleep industry for distribution to the public. The campaign will be supported at the Stop the Snoring, Save the World website.
Snoring Isn't sexy is currently seeking sleep organizations and industries connected to sleep to act as sponsors for the site and for the forthcoming publicity efforts.
Participating dentists are listed in a directory at the organization’s website.
The campaign will launch officially at the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine’s annual meeting in Boston on June 9, 2012.
