James Suckling is an American wine and cigar critic and former Senior Editor and European Bureau Chief of Wine Spectator as well as European Editor of Cigar Aficionado. He is internationally regarded as one of the world's most influential wine critics, and one of the most experienced critics of vintage cigars. Of this vintage, Suckling says, “I am incredibly impressed with the 2007 Brunello di Montalcinos and the richness of these wines.

They are wonderfully fruity, with a purity of ripe Sangiovese that is seldom seen from the vineyards surrounding the hilltop town of Montalcino. The bright fruit in the wines overshadowed their firm tannins and fresh acidities, yet they remain agile with tension.”

Currently celebrating its 78th year as a premier wine retailer, Sokolin was founded in 1934 when original owner David Sokolin received one of the first liquor licenses issued by New York State after Prohibition was repealed. Today, Sokolin is run by CEO David Smydo and President David Sokolin, grandson of the founder. Sokolin is an internationally renowned luxury retailer specializing in fine wines from long-established wine-producing regions, as well as emerging viticultural areas. Over the years, Sokolin has become one of the world’s most experienced and leading wine merchants in Brunello Di Montalcino, and according to David Sokolin, “This tasting is a dream for not only Brunello fans, but for everyone who drinks and enjoys wine. Over 30 of Montalcino’s best producers will be present to discuss their wines from the heralded 2007 vintage.”
