Global Intelligence Alliance (GIA), a global strategic market intelligence and advisory group, today announced a formal agreement for 3mecca, a Korean competitive intelligence consulting company, to join its growing international network of GIA Partners.

GIA Partners enjoy international business development opportunities through the GIA network, intelligence best practices training and access to a network of over 500 industry and local market experts, particularly in emerging markets. 3mecca adds a South Korean office to GIA’s Asia Pacific presence in Hong Kong, Japan, Shanghai and Singapore.

3mecca is a partnership that is headed by three competitive intelligence specialists who have collaborated together since 1997. The partners, Eunkyung Kim, Jayoung So and Jungsook Lee, each have extensive experience in the electronics, telecommunication and pharmaceutical industries. They have also done work in the engineering and energy sectors. Together, they have advised clients such as Samsung, LG and Roche on projects that range from the set up and development of in-house competitive intelligence capabilities to industry research and analysis.

In its endeavours to promote awareness of the competitive intelligence function among South Korean businesses, 3mecca has also translated and published six books on the subject in the Korean language over the last 10 years.

“In the face of global competition, Korean companies are recognizing the urgent need for better intelligence methodologies and systems. STX Group, which is ranked twelfth among Korean private run conglomerates for example, announced an investment in Market Intelligence System in early 2012. Many others are also actively seeking for solutions that can fill the gap between their current knowledge management systems and the demand for real-time, mobile device friendly alerts on rapid industry changes. We believe GIA’s competitive intelligence software, Intelligence Plaza®, meets all their needs in this regard. Our synergistic partnership with GIA will help us to fully tap the market potential in Korea for such a solution”, said Eunkyung Kim, founder of 3mecca.

“With Intelligence Plaza, Korean companies will be able to reduce their time and effort in achieving world-class market intelligence level, a challenge that many will have to achieve in order to stay competitive“, Kim continued.

“With 3mecca, GIA’s network of local offices increases to 23 locations. We are very pleased to add Korea to the GIA map, as the Korean companies are heavily export-driven and thus in need of high quality market intelligence worldwide. 3mecca provides the full GIA services portfolio for local companies, including the world class market intelligence concept and the Handbook of Market Intelligence by GIA, and is able to help international companies interested in the Korean market as well”, said Elisa Tiensuu, GIA’s Network Coordinator.

“We are very pleased to have the exclusive right to publish a Korean version of GIA’s Handbook of Market Intelligence. We personally found the book very informative and instructive, particularly the sections about MI for Key User Groups and believe our clients will benefit greatly from it too,“ said Eunkyung Kim, founder of 3mecca.
