Abstract submissions for the World Molecular Imaging Society's (WMIS) flagship event – the World Molecular Imaging Congress (WMIC) – increased by over 20%, setting another high record of receiving abstracts from 32 countries. The WMIC event will be held in Dublin, Ireland on September, 5 - 8th, 2012. The late breaking news abstract deadline has been determined as July 15, 2012.
The abstracts received represent all areas of Molecular Imaging including clinical, translational, preclinical, and basic sciences. The specialty coverage includes the most innovative domains in oncology, cardiology, neurology, metabolic diseases, immunology, genetics, imaging technology, and others. The cross section of imaging modalities is well represented and the submissions have come from all over the world.
"Getting these many abstracts, in all pertinent areas, and from all over the world implies that WMIC 2012 will turn out to be a great event. Given that it is attended by the decision-makers, influencers, and purchasing executives - we can expect this year's Dublin event to set a new record for attendance and participation. We are looking forward to it." said Dr. Bernd Pichler, head of the WMIC Program Committee.
Working with its partner societies in Europe and Asia, WMIS is the world's most advanced and innovative molecular imaging society. Its partner society ESMI (European Society of Molecular Imaging) is co-organizing the WMIC Dublin event. The FASMI (Federation for Asian Societies for Molecular Imaging) is also a partner society of WMIS.
"This is powerful! Our message of smashing silos and leading innovation convergence in molecular imaging is now resonating with the entire field and the industry. No one can offer the intellectual integrity, domain knowledge, and vision that WMIS can." said Kim Pierce, Executive Director of WMIS.
"We are thrilled to see such an amazing global response to our call for abstracts. The overwhelming response shows that WMIS is now the uncontested global leader in Molecular Imaging." said Dr. Juri Gelovani, President of WMIS.

WMIS is an academic and professional society for Molecular Imaging. From leading projects such as PET awareness campaigns and registry management on the clinical side to developing powerful preclinical models and training programs, WMIS is active across the entire spectrum of Molecular Imaging. WMIS is the world's most innovative and leading society in molecular imaging and molecular medicine. With the rise of the molecular imaging industry and the associated research, WMIS is the only organization that is connecting all the dots in the industry and is working to bring all stakeholders together by Smashing the Silos and Leading Innovation Convergence in molecular medicine through imaging; both for practitioners and researchers, who are defining the future of molecular imaging, WMIS enhances the potential and applications of innovation. http://www.wmis.org
WMIC is the world's most innovative, science and technology led, event. It brings the world's top molecular imaging scientists, technology experts, researchers, and business leaders together to define the future of the molecular imaging field. As the most exciting event in the field, it attracts participation from across the entire value chain of molecular imaging. The conference will be held in Dublin, Ireland on September 5 - 8th, 2012.
