Ansca Mobile, creator of the award-winning Corona SDK, proudly announces that Loqheart’s Corona-made game, Cannon Cat, has soared to the top of the iTunes App Store charts. Released and featured by Apple as New & Noteworthy on April 26, Cannon Cat has risen through the ranks to become one of the top 3 free iPad apps in the United States and the #1 free iPad game for Kids/Adventure. Cannon Cat has reached a global audience as well, becoming Game of the Week in Europe and reaching the Top 10 games for iPad in 59 App Stores worldwide.

Cannon Cat is a 2-D mobile action-adventure game that follows a heroic cat flying through the sky from cannon to cannon, on a mission to save the world’s flying fish from an Evil Emu. It is a free and universal game available for all iOS devices. Don-Duong Quach, a programmer, and David Ngo, an ex-rocket scientist teamed up to build this breakout hit game on the Corona SDK platform. As this dynamic duo’s first mobile game, Cannon Cat is a testament to their talent and dedication, as well as to the power of the platform they chose to build on.

“From the beginning, we knew the only way to stand out and capture the hearts of players was to create a game that looked and felt amazing.” said David Ngo, Co-Founder of Loqheart. Fellow Co-Founder Don-Duong Quach added, “Corona SDK allowed us to focus on crafting a compelling experience without getting mired in the technical details of implementation.”

“We’re honored to be a part of Cannon Cat’s journey,” said Walter Luh, CEO of Ansca Mobile. “Cannon Cat is a great example of how Corona is being used by thousands of developers to create exceptional mobile games. Corona allows developers to focus on building great experiences and increases development speed by an order of magnitude over the alternatives.”

Corona SDK has been used to create premium mobile apps, games and eBooks by over 115,000 independent developers and game studios worldwide. A large number of popular game titles have been developed with Corona, including The Lost City, Blast Monkeys, Bubble Ball and the newly released blockbuster, Cannon Cat. Within the last 12 months alone, Corona-made apps have been downloaded more than 50 million times.

Cannon Cat’s heartwarming story, easy one-tap gameplay, and 80+ levels are available for free on the App Store for all iOS devices. A free and unlimited trial of Corona SDK is also available for download for cross-platform mobile development.
