Employees at Mercedes-Benz of Northlake predict the new CLA Style Coup will bring a younger, refreshed group of customers to dealerships upon its release next year. Traditionally a manufacturer of sizeable luxury sedans, Mercedes-Benz is attempting to appeal to a younger group of consumers with the smaller, more hip CLA compact. The car, originally called the “baby CLS,” was unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show last week following a musical performance by Jessie J, a new-comer to the pop genre best known for her single, “Domino.”

Northlake employees say the CLA will appeal to younger buyers with features like air vents that change color depending on the temperature of the air they are propelling, 20-inch wheels, and a low slung, eye-catching grille. However, they also point out that it shares some more traditional features with the brand’s A-class models as well. For example, the interior has a suede steering wheel, chrome trim, and the technology that allows drivers to surf the internet while parked. Other cool aspects of the CLA are its LED headlights, frameless windows, and panoramic roof.

The front- or all-wheel drive coupe will have four doors and a 208-hp, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine. Rumored to be set for production at the end of the year, Mercedes-Benz hopes to have the CLA to dealerships in the first few months of 2013. Though pricing details have not yet been released, the CLA is expected to cost less than the brand’s C-Class.
