CitySpoon Inc.’s SpoonerSpot provides a new way for businesses to use social networking as part of their online marketing strategy

SpoonerSpot (SpoonerSpot.com), a new social networking platform currently in a public beta testing phase by CitySpoon, Inc., is preparing to launch several partnership promotions in conjunction with Las Vegas area businesses. The site, which allows its members to “put their life on the map”, uses a fully interactive map to share user information with followers; users simply click anywhere on the map and can share stories, pictures or both. The goal of SpoonerSpot is to give users a new way to share information about the world, and several businesses are using the site to create fun and interactive promotions.

SpoonerSpot is a geographic micro-blogging site that gives users a unique method of sharing information about their lives. Unlike traditional social networking platforms that focus entirely on a “timeline” format, SpoonerSpot displays information on a large map of the world. Users are encouraged to explore, rather than just read from a list. By exploring the world, zooming in and out and literally going anywhere in the world, each user can see the world through the eyes of the users they follow on SpoonerSpot.

The platform is being developed by CitySpoon Inc., a Las Vegas based startup firm. While SpoonerSpot is being developed primarily for use by individual users, the platform offers a number of unique promotional opportunities for businesses as well. The site allows businesses, as well as users, to share geographic information with the click of a mouse, and several companies are beginning to understand the creative ways that this system can be used to promote their businesses. From a unique method of displaying real estate listings, to the inclusion of reviews on local restaurants, to the encouragement of patrons to document their interactions with local businesses on SpoonerSpot’s geographic display, the SpoonerSpot platform provides a variety of unique ways for businesses to promote themselves in a new social networking platform.

CitySpoon is providing the SpoonerSpot platform at no cost to both users and businesses. The company also provides several customizable premium features for businesses, including traditional and non-traditional web marketing methods. The company is also partnering with several of businesses to create cross-promotions, sponsoring contests and giveaways through the SpoonerSpot platform. Primarily targeting Las Vegas area businesses at the moment, businesses can increase their marketing reach by including SpoonerSpot as part of their marketing mix.

CitySpoon Inc. is no stranger to working with local businesses in the Las Vegas area. The company first project, CitySpoon.com, is an online coupon site that originally launched in the Las Vegas area. With that project CitySpoon was able to provide free promotional services to several local and national businesses by including them in their daily communications, as well as offering a free platform for businesses to offer discounts and list upcoming events. CitySpoon.com still allows businesses to use their free marketing opportunities, and has given CitySpoon’s team the ability to build strong relationships with several local businesses.

SpoonerSpot is still in development, but businesses and users can already use the site and engage with other users throughout the world. As the company moves forward with its promotional methods local and national businesses are encouraged to contact CitySpoon’s marketing team to see what partnership marketing opportunities are available. The company is continuing to improve the SpoonerSpot platform, moving it closer to its official launch date some time later in 2012, and looks forward to bringing the geographic micro-blogging experience even further into the lives of the online social networking community.
