Supporter to Reporter (S2R), an award-winning project with the London 2012 Inspire Mark, is celebrating the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by tasking young people to become Olympic reporters - and rewarding them in an innovative new way.

To launch this new challenge S2R took four students from Oasis Academy Media City UK in Salford to the GB Taekwondo Team’s Media Day in Manchester.

Teacher, Helen Plester accompanied them on the day "The students were excited to interview such wonderful athletes, and were amazed at the professional display of Taekwondo moves that greeted them!"

The young reporters, Sophie Hake, Abigail Marks and Rebecca Mulwa all of year 8. and Cieran Webb of year 9, had the opportunity to work alongside professional journalists, see the athletes in training and interview them about the European Taekwondo Championships in Manchester from 3rd - 6th May. They even spoke to some of our Olympic hopefuls including Jade Jones and Martin Stamper. You can watch their report here.

In April, the Olympic Slogan was revealed to the world as “Inspire a Generation” which is what the S2R programme aims to do over the coming months.

LOCOG hope that the Games will bring excitement and inspiration to the whole country, so S2R aim to engage young people by rewarding them for sharing their perspective on the most exciting summer of sport the UK has ever seen!

To encourage young people to find out what is happening in their local area during the Games, and how their community feels about London 2012, DigitalMe will be awarding 2012 Reporter Medals to the first 500 successful reports submitted to the S2R Network.
