Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 01, 2012
Anomaly, an epic science-fiction adventure created by Skip Brittenham and Brian Haberlin, will be released in October from Anomaly Productions, a new cutting-edge media company. Anomaly will be available simultaneously as a 370-page hardcover book and as a stand-alone tablet app narrated by some of the best-known actors in science fiction and video games. The hardcover book will be the longest full-color, original graphic novel ever published. In addition to the stand-alone tablet app, readers can download a free Ultra Augmented Reality™ app for iOS (iPad and iPhone) and Android. Anomaly is also in development as a major motion picture by producer Joe Roth.
Written by Brittenham and Haberlin, with art by Haberlin and Geirrod Van Dyke, Anomaly is set in the year 2717, a time when most humans live in off-world colonies, and a single corporation, The Conglomerate, routinely conquers other planets to steal their resources. The story follows a group of explorers who embark on a diplomatic mission to a mysterious planet, only to find themselves embroiled in a global conflict between its exotic inhabitants. In a world where nothing is as it seems, faced with lethal terrain, killer mutants and deadly magic, their mission turns deadly. Brittenham and Haberlin worked with distinguished professors in philosophy, religion and science to develop Anomaly's cultural landscape and planetary functions based on actual historical and scientific facts.
The hardcover book has been printed using a groundbreaking wide-gamut process that allows for more range of color and detail than is available in conventional printing. It features illustrations that range from intimate, personal scenes to full cinematic double-page spreads. Readers can download a free Anomaly app for iOS and Android equipped with Ultra Augmented Reality™ technology featuring more than 50 fully 3D models. Just point your iOS or Android device at the page of the hardcover book and the illustrations spring to life in 3D animation and interactivity.
The book will also be available as a stand-alone tablet app for multiple platforms, including iPad, NOOK Tablet and Kindle Fire, with many interactive features. The tablet app is narrated by such acclaimed science fiction and video game actors as Vincent Corazza, Nana Visitor, Olivia D’Abo, Dave Fennoy, Keith Szarabajka, Hudson Leick and Anthony Cistaro. The tablet app also provides the additional backstory of how the Anomaly universe came to be, and the Anomaly world as the reader experiences it.
“We want Anomaly to be a truly innovative reading experience, with a dimension of interactivity that has never been done before,” Brittenham said. “Brian and I have tried to create an action-adventure that also includes serious ideas in a deeply immersive environment, and we’ve designed the interface so that the consumers can choose how they wish to consume it. We believe this is the flexibility today's consumers want.
“What we’ve gone for is as much of a cinematic experience as possible, with pullouts that measure over 40 inches,” Haberlin said. “It is truly a wide screen experience that no other graphic novel can share. And unlike most ‘graphic novels’ ours is truly, entirely new, not just some collection of previously published materials!”
