AFAR Co-founders Greg Sullivan and Joe Diaz created AFAR Experiences in 2011 after an impromptu journey to Cairo, Egypt three days after former Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak, stepped down from power. “We wanted to feel what the country was experiencing and were eager to find ways to support and promote travel to the country,” says co-founder, Joe Diaz. From that journey, AFAR Experiences was born. “We had the opportunity to meet so many engaging and interesting locals. We wanted to create an opportunity for our influential, global citizen audience to connect, immerse and explore the richness of the world, its people, and cultures,” Diaz continues.
