We believe the challenge is an ideal way for the Community First Hale & Hearty 7K to promote health and wellness among the region’s employers.

To inspire and motivate healthy corporations in Northeast Florida, the Community First Hale & Hearty 7K is hosting the Health Matters Corporate Challenge. The Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida developed the Corporate Challenge in partnership with the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council, allowing participating companies to earn points toward the annual Healthiest Companies awards.

The Health Matters Corporate Challenge provides employers an opportunity to bring their teams together to train, promote wellness, and promote the benefits of living healthy. The Community First Hale & Hearty 7K is the only 7K in the region. The 7K represents seven attributes to a healthy community, the 7 county region, and the 7 attributes to a health company.

“We are bringing our team to compete in the Health Matters Corporate Challenge and showcase Community First’s commitment to health and wellness for our employees and community,” said John Hirabayashi, CEO of Community First Credit Union. “We believe the challenge is an ideal way for the Community First Hale & Hearty 7K to promote health and wellness among the region’s employers and continues to further the Health Planning Council’s mission to create happy and healthy places.”

The Community First Hale & Hearty 7K launched a blogging site in January to promote the race and the development of healthy communities. John Hirabayashi will begin blogging on the site in May. To date, several corporations have committed to participating in the Challenge including Community First Credit Union, Main Street America Group, BB&T, ELM, Harden & Associates, and several others.

The Community First Hale & Hearty 7K will start and end at the Riverside Arts Market on June 2, 2012. The course will take runners through two of Riverside’s most popular and frequented parks, Memorial Park and Riverside Park.

Corporate teams can register via the Hale & Hearty 7K website (http://www.haleandhearty7k.com) or the 1st Place Sports registration page by including the promotional code CORPTEAM to receive the team 10% discount.
