Xlibris Authors J. Christensen and Robert Clayton Buick will have their books Considered for Film or TV Show Development by Meredith Vieira Productions

Author Solutions, Inc. (ASI), the world leader in indie book publishing, today announced Book-to-Screen PitchFest Las Vegas participants J. Christensen and Robert Clayton Buick have been selected to pitch their story concepts to Meredith Vieira for development consideration by her company, Meredith Vieira Productions.

Author J. Christensen’s pitch was based on his first book, “Jesse Caulder,” a riveting novel set in frontier times that follows Jesse Caulder, a wife and mother whose world is torn apart by a ruthless band of thieves. Faced with unbearable grief, she strikes out on her own to avenge her family. “I went to PitchFest armed only with a copy of ‘Jesse Caulder’ in hand, not really knowing what to expect,” said Christensen. “When I learned I was selected to pitch to Ms. Vieira, I was completely shocked; I never dreamed I’d have an opportunity like this.”

The second pitch selected was based on “Tiger in the Rain,” Robert Clayton Buick’s autobiographical account of an American bullfighter who, while living in Mexico, is recruited by the U.S. government to assist in clandestine intelligence-gathering. One evening, his life changed drastically when he overhears of a plot to assassinate then-president John F. Kennedy. “I’ve wanted to tell this story my whole life, and Xlibris and PitchFest have given me that opportunity,” said Buick.

Over 150 authors attended Book-to-Screen PitchFest Las Vegas, where they were each given the opportunity to turn their books into brief pitches designed for Hollywood. In speed-dating fashion, the authors were each given the opportunity to deliver these pitches to representatives from participating entertainment companies. The two authors whose pitches received the most positive response were selected to pitch to Meredith Vieira, one of America’s favorite TV personalities, best known for her work on “Today,” “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” and “The View.” Her production company credits include the feature film “Return,” the documentary “The Woman Who Wasn’t There,” and the hit stage show “Life in a Marital Institution.”

ASI has also announced that Book-to-Screen Pitch Fest will be coming to Los Angeles in July of 2012. Currently PitchFest is available exclusively to ASI and ASI partner imprint authors. For more information about ASI, ASI’s partner brands or for information about self-publishing, visit
