The Southern Medical Association (SMA) announces its 2012 Healthcare Leadership Summit, November 16-17, in the capital of the healthcare industry - Nashville, Tennessee. Developed to harness the paradigm of change in the future direction of health care and reform, this summit features a gathering of highly successful experts in the healthcare industry, including Gary S. Kaplan, MD, Chairman and CEO Virginia Mason Health System; Grace-Marie Turner, President Galen Institute, as well as Paul Grundy, MD, Global Director of IBM Healthcare Transformation and Helen Darling, President and CEO National Business Group on Health, both of whom were recently recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as leaders and innovators who have worked to improve health care and quality.
Complementing these speakers are recognized dynamic leaders in the delivery of health care in the United States, who will offer a wealth of knowledge, leading to creative solutions in an environment in which there has been little precedent.
Strategically timed to fall days after the election, and regardless of the results, the summit promises to deliver the knowledge to create solutions in the face of dynamic change. Mark Williams, MD, MBA, JD, CPE, summit co-chair commented, "Health care is not only an important personal issue but one that also carries national significance. The cost and quality of health care along with concerns over present and future access deserve vigorous discussion and physician leadership. Responsible leadership implies knowledge of the current environment and a vision for the future. This conference is a unique opportunity to learn about both from nationally recognized speakers (many of them physicians) who are making a difference in crafting an even better healthcare model for our citizens. Each of us can make a difference - that's the goal of the conference."
