San Francisco, California (PRWEB) May 04, 2012
In another creative collaboration, The Factory and CODE Salon will present a live recreation of iconic vintage Dior photos at a free fashion and beauty event entitled ,“Dior: A Life in Pictures” on Thursday, May 24 at 7pm PT. The innovative presentation will take place on CODE’s stage in the SOMA district of San Francisco, complete with four unique vignettes featuring live models posed in series of 12’ x 12’ frames each of which will pay homage to a different iconic photograph from Dior’s “New Look” collections.
“We’re thrilled to host an event that will showcase an exciting, live retrospect of fashion and beauty from an influential era that regularly inspires our designs,” said Jennifer Evans, owner of The Factory. “We will sew and supply the garments and we’re taking a very small amount of artistic license to hopefully do Mr. Dior proud.”
“Our team of artists, including style director, Louise Frost, and color director, Dustin Machado, is looking forward to the opportunity to recreate the hair and makeup of the original Dior photos from this era,” said Cheryl Snodgrass, founder and managing director of CODE Salon. “This event will also include a few surprises for guests that offer a modern, fresh twist on vintage classics.”
A Year that Changed Fashion Forever
1947 was the year that Christian Dior stunned and dazzled consumers and fashion editors alike with his “New Look.” Gone were the military and uniform looks that spoke to shortages and war rations. Dior’s debut collection celebrated the feminine form with rounded shoulders, a cinched waist, and very full skirt. Women adored it, and some version of Dior’s New Look has graced fashion runways ever since.
The must-attend party for Bay Area fashionistas will feature models wearing hair, makeup, millinery, and designs just like to those in the original Dior photos, as they pose in a live exhibit of the artistic team’s modern interpretation of the iconic shots. Guests will have an opportunity to catch the performance-like photo installation, network with Bay area beauty and fashion industry influencers, and enjoy live music, cocktails, and snacks. What’s more, the souvenir program will include the original photos for guests to make their own comparisons to the live presentation.
