Riverdale, NY (PRWEB) May 03, 2012
Cardinal Timothy Dolan of the Archdiocese of New York and John Esposito ’69, retired president and CEO of Bacardi U.S.A., Inc. and Bacardi North America, will deliver keynote addresses at Manhattan College’s two Commencement ceremonies on May 19 and May 20. The two speakers and Thomas O’Malley ’63, executive chairman of PBF Energy Company LLC, will also be recipients of honorary doctorate degrees.
Esposito will speak on Saturday, May 19 at 3 p.m. at the College’s Spring Commencement, which awards bachelor’s degrees to students from the school of continuing and professional studies, master’s degrees and professional diplomas.
On Sunday, May 20 at 1 p.m., Cardinal Dolan will address undergraduates receiving degrees in arts, business, education, engineering and science. O’Malley will also be recognized on May 20.
“Our graduates are indeed fortunate to have our distinguished alumnus, John Esposito, and our pastor and teacher, Cardinal Dolan, here to share this milestone with them,” said Brennan O’Donnell, Ph.D., president of Manhattan College. “Our community looks forward eagerly to hosting them, to receiving their wise counsel and encouragement, and to honoring Mr. O’Malley for his truly extraordinary service to the College.”
Cardinal Timothy Dolan
Cardinal Timothy Dolan was formally elevated to cardinal on Feb. 18 by Pope Benedict XVI and has served as archbishop of New York since 2009.
Since being installed as archbishop, Cardinal Dolan has guided the diocese in the Catholic faith and teachings. In 2010, his fellow bishops elected him to president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and he also was chairman of Catholic Relief Services from 2009-2010.
Esposito retired from Bacardi in 2011 after spending five years supervising and managing the company’s operations in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. During his tenure at Bacardi, Esposito’s leadership and commitment to the company initiated a vision to become the number one value-creating premium spirits company in the industry. In fact, MarketWatch Leaders recognized this leadership in 2009 by presenting him with the Industry Executive of the Year award.
O’Malley has achieved business success as an internationally renowned commodities trader and leader in the oil industry since graduating from Manhattan College in 1963.
Prior to taking on his present position as executive chairman of PBF Energy Company LLC, O’Malley acted as CEO or chairman of the following companies: Tosco Corporation, Premcor and Petroplus, all of which were involved in the oil refining business.
