Cheap-Neckties.com, a popular online retailer of men’s ties, just released a Top20 list of the Best Dressed Male TV Characters from popular television shows of the past decade. The retailer surveyed over 10,000 customers which were asked to award style points to each of the 70 nominees that included TV icons such as Don Draper from Mad Men, Nolan Ross from Revenge, Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl, as well as many other dapperly dressed dudes.
“It should stand to reason that television characters are, for the most part, uniquely dressed,” says Cheap-Neckties.com founder Hendrik Pohl. “After all, when you’re in the public eye and being watched by millions of people, you’ve got to stand out and make an impression. We wanted to highlight some of the most uniquely dressed television characters in recent years, and did take a closer look at exactly what it is that makes them stand out. Thanks to the great participation of over 1,000 customers we were able to compile this elaborate Best Dressed List."
Besides simply posting a list of names, the retailer also plans on taking a closer look at each of the 20 winners, highlighting key aspects of what makes each character stand out, celebrating not only their overall appearance but the elements of their look that make them unique to other characters on the show.
“John Hamm’s character Don Draper on Mad Men was a huge inspiration for this series, as just about everyone will agree that he’s one of the best-dressed men on television,” says Pohl. “This got us thinking about all the other popular television characters that put emphasis on their appearance. With the input from fellow style aficionados at popular online forum, StyleForum.net. we were able to compile a thorough list of 70 nominees. We then spent a couple days looking through tons of pictures and hours of TV clips before sending out a consolidated Top50 list to over 10,000 of our valued customers to vote on.” More than 1,000 customers participated and awarded style points to the most dapper dressed men on the list. The result: Neil Patrick Harris playing Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother earned the gold medal for best dressed male TV character, followed by Nolan Ross from Revenge, and Harvey Spector from the television series Suits.
In addition to analyzing the style of popular television characters, each piece will go into detail on how modern men can incorporate the character’s style into their own look.
“A lot of people don’t realize that dressing like popular television characters doesn’t have to be nearly as difficult as is often thought, and can truly be a lot of fun to experiment with,” says Pohl. “The ‘Takeaway’ section we add at the end of each piece is meant specifically to help push our readers in the right direction, and we expect it to be quite popular. After all, who wouldn’t want to look like their favorite television personality on occasion?”
