Sharon Perry, a Westlake Village hairstylist and owner of The Canyon Salon, began her career 30 years ago in the same spot where The Canyon Salon sits today. When she opened her first salon in 2003, she was committed to offering guests an upscale salon experience driven by a well-educated
and innovative staff. Her success and growth resulted in the 2010 opening of The Canyon Salon in the Paseo Marketplace in Westlake Village. In May of 2011, Sharon Perry was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Her staff of over 50 stylists have walked or run in several of the Pancreatic Cancer Research's 5 and 10k events to raise money.
Pancreatic cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer-related deaths around the world. Pancreatic cancer is sometimes called a "silent killer" because in the early stages there are often no symptoms. As a result pancreatic cancer is often not diagnosed until it is advanced.
The Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research was founded in 1997. It is a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing pancreatic cancer research, and providing information, resources and support to pancreatic cancer patients and their families.
The Color Stylist is an online magazine written by Shannon Whiteside a hairstylist at The Canyon Salon, a Westlake Village hair salon. It is devoted to current trends in hair coloring and styles, beauty, and advanced hair coloring techniques for hair and beauty professionals.
