Margaret Dexter’s memoir: "Malta Remembered: Then and Now-A love story" (published by iUniverse), details one American family's carefree adventures while living abroad in the 1960's. Consequences of those years tested their resilience through business loss and physical challenges.
The narrative takes the reader back to less stressful travel times. After living a school year in England-one that included unforgettable visits to Europe- the family returned to California to learn of the toll they must pay: promptly facing cliff-hanging events and near death experiences. Through it all Lady Luck prevailed and destiny intervened: a job offer for her husband. Because of his new work in Libya the family accepted the rare opportunity to live on an island in the Mediterranean.
Rich in its role in history - Malta was once an obscure location-rarely if ever mentioned in the news in the United States. During the past forty years however the tiny archipelago has become a favorite tourist attraction and an international residential haven. "Feedback has been gratifying from those who have discovered this memoir, the author says. Many phone calls, e-mails, and letters have been received from those who thank me for sharing our intimate story. Travelers and history buffs continue to express great interest in Malta - wanting to learn more and to visit. It is my hope that having read about experiences, people, and locations familiar and unfamiliar - the last page is finished with a smile."
Malta Remembered has been awarded the Reader's Choice logo by iUniverse: a distinction that recognizes excellence in writing.
