In the diverse and almost limitless world of social media where most of the living population spend their time, many of us living in ‘Twitter-land’ are on a mission; a mission to a million followers. Of course, a million of anything seems far-fetched but not when you’re a multi-platinum selling, Grammy nominated hip-hop artist and you’re teaming up with one of the world’s finest media and marketing agencies.

The race to a million followers and social media domination is not anything new to rapper Game as he already sits on a Facebook following boasting likes in excess of 3 million. Game, real name Jayceon Taylor is a certified rap phenomenon sitting on a mountain of international hits as well as two time platinum selling album, not forgetting that he’s associated with some of the most illustrious figures in the industry such as Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre, Pharrell, Kanye West and many more. Game’s most recent official release, The R.E.D. Album became another item to add to the list of successes as its release in August 2011 was received phenomenally by the industry as well as critics, with XXL Mag hailing Game as ‘a rare rap purgatory survivor.’ The album went onto sell 98,000 in its first week of release and sat firmly in the No. 1 position on Billboard’s 200 Album Chart. However, despite the celebrated success of The R.E.D. album, Game had bigger plans and more music, more lyrics and more punchlines to deliver for his fans; the thought trail which led to the newly released California Republic mixtape.

It’s evident that Game has deservedly earned himself a place in the on-going hip-hop legacy, as well as a firm seat on the vast panel of artists dominating the social media sphere. However, Game’s rise to social media royalty, especially on Twitter came as of late as he notched the number of followers into 7 figures landing the great 1 Million follower status on Friday. In April, the race began and Game approached an organisation not too far from his circle of trusted associates, London based media and marketing powerhouse, Six2 (http://six2.net). The Twitter hashtag #followgame was born and a huge online campaign was introduced with a website (http://six2.net/thegame) tracking the live follower count for Game as fans across the world joined in on the craze and tweets were posted from music industry giants such as Snoop Dogg, Tyrese, Soulja Boy, B.O.B., Rick Ross and more. In a recent video, Game announces that ‘when it comes to online marketing and promotion and social networking’ Six2 are the ones to make it happen, and if getting Game over the 1 million mark is anything to go by, the creative geniuses in this company have a formula to marketing success which all of us wouldn’t mind grabbing a peek of, the video can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbVx6nsxKT0

Now coming up to their 2nd year since establishment, the London born organisation was founded by brothers and creative enthusiasts Omar and Faisal Choudhry in a bid to deliver unique and revolutionary creative solutions. However, it was the welcoming of award-winning entrepreneurs and respected business figures AJ & Adz which really escalated Six2 from a bedroom start-up to a boardroom giant. Now part of the highly respected and success formulated conglomerate, The Secret Network, Omar, 19, reflects on his early years in business as a ‘complete life changer’ and how working with the Game is ‘just an example of how good relationships, strategic planning and determination’ are a forte of Six2 as the ever-growing organisation continues to excel above expectations.
