GoPro HD Hero2, Spot Satellite GPS Messenger and camping gear are available to rent through Whittaker Mountaineering for the first time.

Mountaineers climbing Mt. Rainier this summer or peaks anywhere in the world can now rent gear online from the new and redesigned Whittaker Mountaineering rentals website, unveiled today at http://www.rental.whittakermountaineering.com. Hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, snow safety and camping gear, GoPro HD Hero2 cameras and Spot Satellite GPS Messengers are also available for rent.

The new rentals website features the world's best mountain equipment for rent and organized by activity or destination into easy-to-follow checklists. With improved site speed and intuitive navigation, the new website is an excellent resource for novice to experienced mountaineers needing head-to-toe outfitting or select gear for their adventures.

“The gear required to safely and comfortably climb mountains can cost hundreds to thousands of dollars to purchase, which may not be cost-effective for the occasional or recreational climber,” says Whittaker Mountaineering owner and Rainier Mountaineering Inc. senior guide Peter Whittaker. “The Whittaker Mountaineering rentals program offers people affordable access to get into the gear they need -- the same gear our Guide Team uses and recommends -- to enjoy the mountains or ‘try before they buy’ the gear that they may consider purchasing later.”

Located in Ashford, WA, Whittaker Mountaineering specializes in Mt. Rainier summit climb rentals and offers gear lists conveniently organized by partner Rainier Mountaineering Inc.’s (RMI) guided climbs and as recommended by RMI’s team of professional mountain guides, also appropriate for independent climbs.

The new Whittaker Mountaineering rentals website includes gear lists for:

  • Mt. Rainier Climbing Rentals – Complimentary to RMI’s variety of 4 to 6 day summit climbs and seminars or independent climbs
  • Mt. McKinley Climbing Rentals – Complimentary to RMI’s West Buttress climb and Alaska Mountaineering seminar or independent climbs
  • International Climbing Rentals – Complimentary to RMI’s guided climbs and organized by destinations, including Ecuador, Kilimanjaro, Mt. Elbrus, Aconcagua, Mexico, Vinson Massif, Cho Oyu and Mt. Everest
