Great schools are grown from the ground up and the top down: when teachers and leaders come together in a joint effort for whole-school improvement, everybody wins. – breakout session, The Critical Need to Transform Leadership
Palm Beach Gardens, FL (PRWEB) May 08, 2012
Learning Sciences Marzano Center is delighted to announce the first annual National Marzano Teacher and Leadership Conference, which will take place in Orlando, Florida, June 20-22, 2012. The conference theme in this debut year is “Building Expertise,” reflecting the trend toward developing teacher evaluation models which not only measure teacher capacity, but seek to develop and improve teachers’ classroom practice to increase student achievement year by year.
Dr. Marzano will be on hand to discuss next-generation evaluation models, the most up-to-date research on evaluation and value-added measures of student achievement, and what has been learned as states implement federal and local directives to reform K-12 teaching and learning. Of particular interest is Dr. Marzano’s new Leadership Evaluation Model, which is designed to align with the Teacher Evaluation Model, drawing on a common language of instruction and foregrounding an unwavering focus on student achievement.
The conference will take place at the Wyndham Orlando Resort. Nearly 700 attendees from 17 states and 25 Florida districts have registered for the main conference, which is now sold out. Seats remain for the Friday-only session, which will include Dr. Marzano’s keynote address, panels on best practices for implementation, breakout sessions on the individual domains of the Marzano Causal Teacher Evaluation Model, and a culminating event: Rating with Dr. Marzano and Expert Raters. Seats are also available for the Wednesday pre-conference, which provides a full day overview of the Marzano Causal Teacher Evaluation Model or a full day of instructional coaching using the model.
