BUILDINGS magazine has selected Bigfoot CMMS as a 2012 Money-Saving Product. Bigfoot CMMS is an award-winning preventive maintenance management solution used worldwide, and is part of an elite group of products that will be showcased in BUILDINGS’s June 2012 issue.

Finalist products were based on the money-saving qualities offered to building owners and facility managers in areas such as energy consumption, water savings, lighting, envelope improvement -- and maintenance management software.

Facilities managers responsible for overall building operations rely on Bigfoot CMMS (computerized maintenance management software) to make sure every piece of equipment – from production machines to outdoor sprinklers to alarms -- is up and running and stays that way. Bigfoot CMMS tracks all building assets, spare parts inventories, outside repair contractors – whatever comes under the facility manager’s purview – and creates preventive maintenance schedules to anticipate repairs ahead of malfunctions.

The facilities management team of Gilpin County, CO, for example, uses Bigfoot CMMS for preventive maintenance of assets housed in eight county buildings. Tim Lewerke, facilities maintenance supervisor says, “Now that we have Bigfoot to track maintenance of all county assets, we catch problems with our equipment before it fails and that has resulted in a 15 to 20 percent savings in maintenance costs.”

Bigfoot also manages maintenance and uptime at the Greenstar Recycling facility in Allentown, PA, which has increased throughput and yield while using less energy as a result. All machines are on Bigfoot CMMS’s preventive maintenance calendar, including a list of tasks and procedures for each machine, with automatic email reminders. According to Chris Morgan, Greenstar plant manager:

“The way we now manage our maintenance department with Bigfoot has helped us continually cut costs in equipment service, parts used, as well as maintenance costs per ton, which has decreased dramatically over the years. In the last three years since we implemented Bigfoot CMMS we’ve been able to analyze replacement part usage and find ways to cut inventory costs. Overall, we’ve cut maintenance costs per ton by nearly 40 percent.”
