Without the support of local, state and federal funding these jobs would have been lost or moved out of state.

NMC was put on the market to be sold to the highest bidder. With a strong track record of growth and solid profits, Mr. Black was approached by the former owners and potential new owners to work on the acquisition and accept a lucrative payout, which would help close the doors within one year. Mr. Black turned down that offer and several more to push forward and find a way to gain ownership, save jobs and continue with his vision to build an organization where family values, dedication and focus on the customer are the driving factors to success.
On Monday May 7th Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee and a delegation of local Rhode Island and Federal delegates toured NMC’s facility and congratulated the employees on being the first organization in the state to receive stimulus funds targeted at keeping jobs in Rhode Island.
“We are fortunate to have a proactive state government and the resources of the RIEDC to help work with and be able to finance the acquisition of NMC,” said Michael Black, Owner and President of NMC.” Without the support of local, state and federal funding these jobs would have been lost or moved out of state.” The most important assets we have are our NMC associates and the opportunity to give them a home for a long time to come.
“The federal SSBCI funds are an important tool to help strengthen existing capital and economic development programs and to help support valuable Rhode Island small businesses like National Marker. I am proud that they have made a decision to keep growing in Rhode Island,” said Governor Chafee.
