The LED lighting and wireless control solution will decrease AG New England’s cold storage facility energy costs by $52,000 a year, save approximately 482,066 kWh of energy annually, and reduce energy consumption by 90%. The lighting upgrade project will also drastically decrease maintenance costs and lower their annual carbon footprint by 660,656 lbs. per year.

We have been fighting lighting challenges in our freezer storage area for a long time and Leading Edge Design Group presented a design, technology, and project plan that exceeded our expectations.

Leading Edge Design Group (LEDG), a leading national provider of energy optimization services, announced today the completion of an energy efficient LED lighting upgrade for Associated Grocers of New England (AG New England). Located in Pembroke, NH, the LED lighting and wireless control solution will decrease AG New England’s cold storage facility energy costs by $52,000 a year, save approximately 482,066 kWh of energy annually, and reduce energy consumption by 90%. The lighting upgrade project will also drastically decrease maintenance costs and lower their annual carbon footprint by 660,656 lbs. per year.

LEDG designed and implemented the LED-based Intelligent Lighting System from Digital Lumens replacing the aging, T5HO fluorescent lighting installed throughout the cold storage facility where the temperature is consistently at fifteen below zero twenty-fours hours a day, seven days a week. With best-in-class LED technology and integrated intelligence, the Digital Lumens fixture delivers light exactly where it is needed. As part of the Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System, the fixture integrates occupancy sensing and centralized controls to deliver light only when it is needed to minimize energy usage.

“We have been fighting lighting challenges in our freezer storage area for a long time and Leading Edge Design Group presented a design, technology, and project plan that exceeded our expectations,” says Bruce Courtois, Facilities Manager, AG New England. “They implemented their LED lighting solution design flawlessly, without operational interruptions, and we realized energy and costs savings almost immediately. Everyone is thrilled with the outcome of this project.”

Public Service of New Hampshire (PSNH) provided an energy efficiency incentive through the NHSaves@Work program that has been developed to provide commercial customers in N.H. with financial incentives to retrofit aging, inefficient lighting.

“We are excited to see Associated Grocers of New England realize the benefits of LED lighting and take advantage of PSNH energy efficiency incentive programs,” said Gary Hubbard, Energy Efficiency Program Manager at Leading Edge Design Group. “The savings, energy, and productivity improvements will significantly impact AG New England’s business and enhance the services they provide to their customers.”
