Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) May 11, 2012
Each spring The Cleveland Food Bank organizes Harvest for Hunger, one of the largest food drives in the nation in response to the growing need in the Northeast Ohio community. Last year, University Circle Inc. (UCI) stepped up to help the effort by organizing the Circle Challenge: The Wade Oval Walk Against Hunger. The 2nd annual walk is schedule for today, Friday, May 11th at 11:00 a.m. “The Wade Oval Walk Against Hunger is an easy way to feed a family in need. For every 1 one mile walked and 10 dollars raised, you can provide 40 meals. It’s an easy way for Cleveland employers to get their employees involved in an important community cause,” says Chris Ronayne, president of University Circle Inc.
With a goal of providing 16 million meals to Northeast Ohioans, Harvest for Hunger looks to community partners and volunteers to come up with creative events and activities to engage the community in participating actively in the campaign. “We are very grateful for partners like University Circle Inc. who go the extra mile to plan special events on behalf of Harvest for Hunger,” says Anne Goodman, president and CEO of Cleveland Foodbank. “Every dollar raised really does help to make a difference in the lives of hungry children and families in Northeast Ohio.”
This year’s walk will welcome several hundred walkers from organizations and institutions in and around University Circle. Donating their time for the event, The Covert Operation will perform on the Kulas stage, keeping walkers motivated and entertained during the walk. The Cleveland Foodbank truck will be onsite during the event collecting food donations.
