Ashe Memorial was the first hospital to use PatientKeeper to demonstrate and pass Stage 1 “Meaningful Use” criteria defined by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, as authorized under the ARRA/HITECH Act. The hospital attested in September 2011, making it among the first 12 percent of U.S. hospitals – and among the first six percent of Critical Access Hospitals – to successfully complete attestation for Stage 1.
PatientKeeper CPOE is part of a suite of tightly integrated physician workflow applications that are being deployed to Ashe Memorial’s physicians. In its first year of use, Ashe Memorial achieved 80 percent physician adoption of PatientKeeper across the hospital, which represents a sustained level of physician use well above the adoption standards anticipated in the pending Stage 2 Meaningful Use criteria.
Ashe Memorial is utilizing PatientKeeper’s SaaS option, under which PatientKeeper securely hosts the hospital’s physician workflow software. PatientKeeper’s SaaS solution enables rapid deployment, decreased client-side infrastructure requirements, and turnkey deployment for the IT staff.
The annual PatientKeeper Customer Innovation Award recognizes a PatientKeeper customer that best demonstrates how the use of PatientKeeper applications can drive extraordinary improvements and high levels of innovation throughout its organization. PatientKeeper announced Ashe Memorial as the 2012 winner at the PatientKeeper User Group Conference, which was held this week in Boston.
