Fullerton, CA (PRWEB) May 14, 2012
Secret City Comics Society (SCCS) has brought north Orange County its unique brand of family-friendly and clean improvisational comedy for almost a year. During the fall of 2011, Secret City began its high school improv league in order to train high school students in performing spontaneous comedy and to help the schools produce comedy shows throughout the year. On May 19th, Secret City Comics Society will host a special show featuring the best performers from Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton, CA and La Habra High School in La Habra, CA.
Since the beginning of the 2011/2012 school year, performers from SCCS went to Sunny Hills and La Habra High School, teaching students the fundamentals of performing improvisational comedy, creating comedic scenes based on suggestions from the audience and producing improv shows. Throughout the school year, both schools have been performing shows to their respective student body, parents and faculty to great success.
On May 19th, Sunny Hills and La Habra High School will get a chance to see how funny the other can be in a friendly improv competition. "Yes, the show appears to be a competition between two schools, it's really an opportunity for students to come together under the bond of comedy. Each school will get a chance to perform comedy as individual teams in the spirit of fun and they will also get a chance to perform together at the end of the show," says Alan Ng, Secret City High School Improv League Director.
The show is on Saturday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Secret City Comics Society's theater in Downtown Fullerton, located at 141 W Wilshire Ave. The price of tickets are $5. Reservations can be made on-line at http://www.SecretCityComedy.com or by phone at (855) 467-7687 x 0.
SCCS High School Improv League was created with the idea that performing improv comedy is a fun way for students to build self-confidence and express themselves creatively by working together to make something funny out of nothing. The high school improv comedy league allows students from neighboring schools to perform comedy together in a competition format, while building friendships through laughter.
Secret City Comics Society (SCCS) performs improvisational comedy shows suitable for all ages in downtown Fullerton. The shows feature comedic scenes and games made up by actors based on suggestions from the audience. SCCS produces comedy shows every Friday night at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
