Virtual Receptionist Service Develops Proprietary Software to Enable Online Sharing

Ruby Receptionists, a leading provider of live virtual receptionist services, announced the launch of the “Ruby Refer-a-Friend Program,” an online word-of-mouth referral program to generate leads and help its passionate customer base become brand ambassadors for Ruby’s professional and friendly customer experience. The company, which provides live virtual receptionist services to 1,700 businesses and entrepreneurs in 49 states, is committed to fostering personal and meaningful connections in today’s technology-driven world.

The Ruby Refer-a-Friend Program uses online tools to enable existing customers to extend a special offer to their referral networks — if a customer’s friend signs up for service, the standard $95 setup fee is waived, and the referring customer receives a $50 Visa gift card.

“Throughout Ruby’s history, we’ve been grateful that so many of our clients have chosen to spread the word about Ruby through personal referrals and their social media networks,” said Kevin Gillam, Ruby Director of Marketing. “Now, we’ve streamlined that process and made it so much easier for our clients — they can refer their friends to Ruby with just a few clicks, and we have the capability to automatically track and reward referrals efficiently and accurately.”

The new program enables clients to recommend Ruby to their business associates, friends and families via an email message, blog post, Twitter “tweet”, Facebook status update or personalized URL (PURL) and landing page. Clients can even add their own testimonial that will appear when friends visit the custom Refer-a-Friend landing page. In order to generate referrals, Ruby clients simply log into the mobile-friendly Member Services Area of Ruby’s website, click on the Refer-a-Friend button and follow the instructions. Clients with iPhones can also click on the new “Refer” tab on Ruby’s updated iPhone app.

After exploring several third party solutions, Ruby management decided to develop proprietary software for the Ruby Refer-a-Friend Program in-house for optimal customization and better integration with its proprietary customer relationship management system. Ruby engaged Portland-based Sembit to develop the initial iPhone app and its subsequent updates.
