Richland, WA (PRWEB) May 10, 2012
Senior radiation safety professionals Tracy A. Ikenberry and Edward F. Maher will represent the United States Health Physics Society as delegates to the 13th International Congress of the International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA), which runs May 13–18, 2012, in Glasgow, Scotland. Both Ikenberry and Maher are Fellows of the Health Physics Society, and Maher is its current Past-President, after serving one year each as President-Elect (2009–2010) and President (2010–2011).
“The standards that IRPA promulgates at these Congresses influence health physics activities around the globe,” said Dade Moeller CEO Matt Moeller, who will be attending the Congress. “We are proud to have Tracy and Ed representing our nation in this important field, and we look forward to benefitting from their first-hand knowledge and insight on a corporate level.”
With endorsement from his local Columbia (Wash.) Chapter, Ikenberry was selected as a delegate by the Society’s Board of Directors from a field of nominees. This will be his first IRPA Congress. Maher also served on the U.S. delegations to IRPA in Madrid, Spain, in 2004, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2008. IRPA Congresses are held every four years.
Dade Moeller’s Executive Vice President, Bill Kennedy, also will be attending the IRPA Congress. The Health Physics Society is a nonprofit scientific professional organization established in 1956 to promote the practice of radiation safety.
