Upcoming WPL Publishing Webinar to Examine Alternative Project Delivery Systems in Construction

The interactive webinar, which has been approved for 1.5 American Institute of Architects learning units, is suited for a wide variety of professionals in the construction community, including public and private owners, design professionals, construction managers, sureties, and legal professionals.

Later this month, WPL Publishing will sponsor a webinar to help professionals in the construction community understand the keys to success for alternative project delivery systems.

Many construction owners are moving away from the traditional design-bid-build approach and shifting greater responsibility and risk to the constructor, resulting in less separation between design and construction services. To help construction professionals understand and address the changing project-delivery climate, webinar speakers will discuss various project delivery systems, such as construction management; engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC)/design-build; integrated project delivery; and public-private partnerships as well as the unique project execution risks confronting primary stakeholders. Attendees of the webinar will learn how alternative project delivery systems can affect the success or failure of projects with improved risk identification and resolution. In addition, speakers will explain how expanded participation of a project team requires greater reliance on project control tools for scheduling and coordination.

Webinar attendees will learn how to do the following:

  • Assess the delivery systems and unique project execution risks confronting primary stakeholders.
  • Anticipate project control issues for innovative delivery systems.
  • Grasp the importance of schedule integration and change management and how they affect the roles of project parties.
  • Understand critical remedy-granting terms under innovative project delivery arrangements, such as time extensions and delay claims, suspension, termination, and protecting payment rights.
  • Measure the success or failure of a project delivery system.

Addressing webinar attendees will be TDF Llc. founder Thomas Fertitta and Jeffrey Gilmore, a shareholder in the Tysons Corner, Va., office of Akerman Senterfitt Llp.

Mr. Fertitta’s strategies assist clients in identifying and avoiding potential project risks, complying with severe project restrictions, exploring efficient construction sequences, and preparing persuasive analyses. He specializes in preparing critical path method schedules and schedule analyses demonstrating delay, disruption, and acceleration. He has provided expert services for negotiation, mediation, arbitration, state court, and federal court regarding scheduling matters.

Mr. Gilmore is the national chairperson of Akerman’s Construction practice. His practice emphasizes domestic and international construction law involving a broad range of public and private matters, including EPC/design-build projects, healthcare, multi-family housing, power generation, petrochemical, and infrastructure projects (transportation, water, and public safety).

Following their presentations, there will be an interactive 10-to-15 minute question-and-answer session addressing relevant topics.
